This is the same sauce that is the base for my Best Ever Lasagna. I like to make the sauce alone, triple the recipe and then freeze it in 2-3 cup batches. It's easy to thaw for spaghetti or Penne Pasta Casserole.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ground Italian sausage
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 T basil
- 1 (14 oz) can stewed tomatoes
- 2 small cans tomato paste
- Brown beef and sausage together.
- Drain.
- Add garlic and basil.
- Stir.
- Add tomatoes and tomato paste.
- Mix together and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

This sauce sounds delicious! I am going to give it a try. Last Week my son and dil brought us lasagna for dinner after my surgery. They said they just googled, the Worlds Best Lasagne. Wonder if it was your recipe. I'm going to have to check it out. She said that you simmer the sauce for 1 and 1/2 hrs. My son said, mom I always loved your lasagna; but this is even better. Had to agree! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
